Jodie Whittaker said goodbye to the Doctor today in an emotion farewell episode.

Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker has officially said goodbye to "the best job" she has ever done. The Thirteenth Doctor's farewell episode was promised by Chris Chibnall to be an "all action thrill ride" aired on Sunday 23rd October and fans were not disappointed. The BBC centenary special also served as a tribute to the past 59 years of Doctor Who, featuring a total of eight Doctors and eight companions as well as the Daleks, Cybermen and the Master, marking the first time all three of the Doctors greatest enemies have appeared in the same episode since 1983.

In an interview with Doctor Who Magazine Jodie Whittaker said "This is the best time on a job I've ever had - and potentially ever will have.

"If I had to put my whole time on Doctor Who into context, the word I'd use to sum it up is 'joy'. Pure, unadulterated, unselfconscious freeing joy."

Showrunner Chris Chibnall has also left the show following The Power of The Doctor. Chibnall said, writing in Doctor Who Magazine "It's been more fun than I can possibly describe. I've loved this job. And now I'm loving the prospect of being an unspoiled viewer again."

Chibnall and Whittaker leave the show after making a "three series and out" pact back in 2018. "Our song may be over, but the story never ends" Chibnall said, quoting his successor Russell T Davies.

Other cast and crew departing the show following the Power of the Doctor include companions Mandip Gill and John Bishop who play Yasmin Khan and Dan Lewis along with composer Segun Akinola, costume designer Ray Holman and executive producers Matt Strevens and Nikki Wilson.

David Tennant will return to play the 14th Doctor from November 2023 celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who. Former showrunner Russell T Davies will also return in 2023, taking over the post of showrunner from Chris Chibnall.

The Power of the Doctor is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer in the UK. Doctor Who returns to BBC One and iPlayer in November 2023 starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate.
